This week for the Under 1M Spotlight, I chose a small band called Dogpark. Dogpark is a group of four that’s started by their lead singer Eamon Mo. I discovered Eamon’s talent in 2023 on Tiktok when he posted a video of Dogpark’s live living room cover of “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5. After this, I started following Eamon’s personal work as well as the progress Dogpark was making. Little by little each year, Dogprak gains more fans but they are still severely underrated considering the fact that Eamon is crazy talented and could be a descendant of Jeff Buckley.
They recently released a single “I Don’t Mind” on October 17th. This track gives off a real grungy/metal vibe. The song gives the audience the feeling of running through a city at night and having a bit of an unsafe pit in your stomach. Eamon screams about “not trusting an alibi” which makes the audience realize that the character has something he’s running from and must be guilty of a crime. The chorus is more upbeat and it’s accompanied by a punk-rock drum beat with whiney lyric finishes. The break brings in a pretty cool guitar solo that makes me feel like we’re involved in some running from the cops.
The music itself is decent from Dogpark, but I will say, I don’t believe that they fully utilize Eamon’s voice to the fullest potential. I can appreciate the punk-rock throwback that they are going for, but they can definitely benefit from some vocal runs or higher notes in general. Covering more alternative or folk music could probably boost ratings a ton as well as inspire some new music. All they have to do is put that rasp into a few songs and they are golden!
