Ever since the release of Katy Perry’s 4th studio album “Witness” she has pretty much fallen off. One “Bon Appetit,” two albums, and a weird trip to space later, the 2000s pop singer is trying again. Today we are taking a look at her new single, “Bandaids.”
The track starts off with a promise that she has tried everything to recover from a relationship that let her down. She lists off some generic disappointments that come about between them. The line that will be repeated throughout the song “Band-Aids over a broken heart” is proudly presented by Katy and I have to say, I’m underwhelmed. The chorus is a swill of things she did to devote herself to this person but it doesn’t really describe much of what happened. The next verse is a report of the happy things that went on in the relationship ended by a random “Now we’ve got too many splinters.” She also starts repeating the line “Bleedin out, bleedin out, bleedin out slow” telling us that the entire end was a slow and painful end. She contradicts this pain when she says “I would still do it all over again.” The lyrics all add up to just be a super contradicting and generic way to gain attention for a breakup I am not even sure is real at this point.
Not sure I can say our girl Katy is able to recover from her recent flop era. I will say that I would love to attend a tour full of throwbacks. That would be a smash.
