Classic Tate opening lead up. Sounds royal and cool. She explains how her ideal future is to be worshiped and adored by the public but admits directly after that all she wants is money and a man to settle down with. She knows that one day when it all becomes too much for her she needs someone to “run away” with. The concept of being her own “housewife” means that she creates her own success and still can have someone that she is lovey dovey with. “Life imitating art” means that she wants her life to be so perfect and graceful.
The next verse is a picture of her doing so well and then being whisked away by some saving figure. She wants to be mysterious. The chorus again reinstates the idea that she is the rich man in her life but that does not mean she wants to live without a man. The bridge reiterates more confidence and radiating self worth. Speaking to her lover she says “you right beside me is the icing on the dream” making it clear she already has everything she wants and a lover is just a bonus.
The entire track is insanely catchy and has that pop star swag to it. The background vocal is so prominent in the back seeming to be her vocal pitched all the way up, reminding me a bit of Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now.” The overproduction of Tate McRae is always something so tasteful and has become a signature move on her part. Thanks to Ryan Tedder, this sound stays consistent on most of her work.
Overall the song is a killer and prepares fans for her next album rumored for early 2027.
